Who we are
Lifehouse School & Orpanage for the Deaf was founded in 2004, as an officially registered non-profit charity in Obala, Cameroon by the Rev Andre Bikond and his wife Mme Philomene Rose.
Thier purpose is to provide a loving family atmosphere in which the deaf are educated and given oppurtunity to become productive members of society through vocational training.
About the founder of Lifehouse: Andre Christophe Bikond was born deaf and was educated in a school founded by the late pioneer deaf missionary, Dr. Andrew Foster, who opened schools and churches in over 30 African nations, including Cameroon.
It was the influence of a deaf black missionary who refused to ignore the silent cries of the forgotten deaf that influenced Andre to open Lifehouse and reach those who otherwise will be forgotten.
Rev Andre Christophe Bikond was ordained on April 27th, 2008 as a Christian minister and is the only ordained deaf pastor in the nation of Cameroon. Besides founding and directing Lifehouse, he has also planted and pastors church for the deaf in Obala, and a church for the deaf and hearing in a nearby town.
Land Purchase: With the help of local churches and individuals, we purchased land in July 2011 for the school and orphanage. Next step: Begin building!
Future plans: To build a facility large enough to house 100 children or more and to expand the program to include the blind.
Our Affiliation: Help the Deaf International (a ministry of Ends of the Earth Mission Society) has partnered with Lifehouse to help change the destinies of the deaf in Cameroon.
Our partnership includes oversight, fundraising, mission trips to LifeHouse, helping with supplies and to network the deaf community in Cameroon with those who have a heart for the deaf in different parts of the world.
LifeHouse is also referred to as "INEDAV" in French: Institutenational Evangelique Des Enfants Deficients Auditiifs et Visuals.
